Quest for my 1st Turkey
« on: May 01, 2009, 05:48:45 PM »
This is my first year turkey hunting and so far, I love it! I think I am on the right track so far, I have been watching tons of videos, reading magazine and HUNTWA articles, I joined the NWTF, went to one of the banquets (the Mercer Island one where I dropped some serious coin by the way!) Anyway, I thought I had permission to hunt on a few ranches in the Teanaway area and they both fell through! I have been over there anyway a few times (public land) and managed to only see one bird, although I have seen lots o elk! Does anybody have any suggestions for me? Are there certain areas that tend to hold a higher population of turkeys over in the CleElum/E-burg area? Should I try to find a spot in the NE? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

I think most of us would recommend that you look for public and private land to hunt in the NE.  It is a bit of a drive but you will be getting into more birds and lots more opportunity.  Good Luck and stay with it!  You will get lots of information and great tips from the folks on this forum.   :)
