2021, Pink Salmon, Timing Question
« on: June 07, 2021, 07:25:58 AM »
Morning. Thinking about inviting my dad out for some humpy slaying. If you could pick one week to guess the run peak for timing when would it be. 3rd week in August maybe? Area 8-2 and 9 is the target zone.

Thanks

I know there are variables based on rainfall and what not to bring them in, but I'd agree with you, that 3rd week of August.  I looked at pictures from 2019, and August 17 was right in the middle of it I'd say.  Really good a few days prior to that and about a week after.

I always remember fishing both the Edmonds and Everett Coho derbies in September and still wading thru pinks in the salt. I'd lean towards 4th week of August to Labor Day weekend.

For a while, I would go out to Fort Casey or Bush Point on my birthday, August 20, and it was always red hot out there. Usually a few coho showing at that time as well on that side of the island. I think 3rd week on through Labor Day is peak run timing.

I looked at our logs and August 16 was our best day, meaning we got our six fish a few minutes faster than the other days.  We didn't fish every day, but I would say the third week would be a good bet.

@CP

Yeah, 3rd or maybe the 4th week of Aug for the peak in 8-2.  Labor day is usually the beginning of the end of the run.

I'm sure we can make that happen.  If I forget, hit me up when we get there.

I agree with the others. Dead center of August for Shipwreck. Plus or minus 1 week, but one week later is better than earlier. That is splitting hairs though.....
