Fished Kingston for kings and picked up 4 pinks on king gear. They are definatly here. We were fishing deeper 115-175 and still catching them. Would have been easy limits if we raised up our gear. Spoons

Is the entire 8-2 closed?  That's what the app is showing, but I thought it was only the portion north of the ferry.

Edit - looks like it opens on 8/14.

Believe it's only closed for kings.  Open for pinks and fin clipped silvers.  We fished off of Whidbey on Sunday and caught 5 pinks in 30 minute and lost another 4 at the change of the tide.

No, 8-2 is closed until the 14th for all salmon.  Area 9 is open.

Rivers are gonna be rough this year for fishing with the amount of silk coming off the glacier melt.  They all look like chocolate milk.

West side Whidbey is full on. Expect to see silvers in the mix in two weeks.

I'll be trolling right down the middle of the channel just south of the ferry Saturday.  Probably going to hit 9 tomorrow.

My son and I fished Bush Point yesterday from a kayak and we limited in 3 hours.  My wife and I went out just south of the PT ferry this morning and caught 2 in an hour. We saw people doing almost as good from shores, so the fish are definitely here on the island.

Before this we were trying to fish from the Port Townsend area without any luck.   I put in 8+ hours fishing from Fort Worden without any hook ups before finding the fish on Whidbey.

We ended up going today instead of tomorrow, hit the 8/2-9 line at the crack of 10:15 and proceeded to whack 2 fish as fast as I could get the gear in the water, literally in under 3 minutes.  2 in the box, ok, going to be quick.  We then took 90 minutes to raise the rest of our fish, we chased them deeper, did a few textbook pink releases at the net and I think lost 4-5 to bring our average back down to normal ranges.

Good numbers around, but I didn't see the monster schools yet, should be stacking in every tide change.  We wasted some time throwing jigs but couldn't find large enough schools, just a few here and there.  10:15 bite was at 40', picked up the last one at 100', wasn't sure if they were pinks or coho, but they were pinks.

White flasher, short leader, pink hoochie.  Troll as slow as you think you should and then a bit slower.  We didn't get bit any time our speed picked up beyond the absolute bare minimum required to barely move the flasher.  Thus, you can only go with the current unless you want to be holding in place.

8-2 had jumpers and plenty of fur bags, so they should be in there as well, but if not, just keep trolling south into 9.  Don't be afraid to get out of the crowd, we outfished every boat I was watching and we were either the farthest boat out or only had one or two beyond us.

I tried to circle around and hit the same school again twice and struck out both times and ended up turning around again and going with the current, so I would just lock in a direction and keep going.

On a whim I went and fished Deception Pass today. Website said the gates opened at 6 30. I got to the gate and waited at 5 45. At 8 15 they finally opened it. Said they forgot!  :yike:  Anyways, fished a couple hours with a handful of other disgruntled fishermen. Nobody touched a fish. Never even saw one jump.

"Deception Pass"
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
