Don't know if other Inreach users have noticed the same thing but I originally got it because I liked the 125.00/year optional medivac insurance using the SOS feature. Garmin is not allowing users to renew their insurance through Medivac past Dec 2021. I'm not sure if there is gonna be another option or what but have received a few emails with notices regarding the changes. If there's no medivac/search and rescue insurance options I'm probably gonna look closely at these other options available.

There are two different plans you used to be able to get with an InReach.  A search and rescue plan from a third party company, and a medivac plan from a different third party company.  InReach bought the company (GEOS) that provides the search and rescue insurance, so are transitioning you over to their plan going forward and you still have that $24.95/yr option for SAR insurance.  So the SAR insurance is still there.

Garmin has removed the ability to bundle that third party Medivac insurance plan as part of your subscription.   It's no longer offered as an option.

I never bought the Medivac plan via Inreach in the past because of the "minimum distance from home" rule meant that I'd never have been able to use it for most of my trips (you had to be quite a ways from home for it to be effective).   And there were other limitations on that bundled plan that I didn't like.   There are much better options available for medivac insurance.
