It would be great to see the state document the permit drawing detail.

Using the Species, Category, Hunt Choice as reference.

The "hats" in this case must be hunt choice.
The random number(s) gets assigned to a hunter per category?   Or per hunt choice?

Ranc
names in the hat are your points squared. Example 4pts=16 names in the hat=16 chances at a low randomized number. Randomized numbers are per category

Thanks for the detail.  In thinking about this more,  they can't pick winners sequentially (hunt choice by hunt choice) - so the hat analogy breaks down.  Does the source code for the selection algorithm get audited by a 3rd party ?    What exactly does a witness audit ?

So a little more behind the curtain, when they do the draw and have witnesses they ask a witness if there is a category they are in for that they want to see results. To do that they have to post the results.  I am guessing the witness wanted to see quality elk so they had to soft post those results to make it official and that is why successful applicants are seeing that in their active licenses.  I think they pull the results back down so that may disappear from your active licenses.  Soon they will post all of the results.  Results have to post, points taken away if you drew, points added if you didn't, licenses availble to purchase if you drew.  Lots of moving pieces still to go.  I would assume if all goes well results should be out by 1:45 @Timberstalker  :yike:

that i could not tell you. Id love to be a witness but being an east side guy it would be hard. I believe you have to be somewhat flexible with scheduling. Few huntwa folks have been witnesses though. Rainier, trophyhunt, jphelps, and a few others.

Will be crazy fast if results are out today.
