I have real the anti backward deal quit working. I really like the reel, any suggestions?

Call the manufacturer and see if they any type of warranty.

What brand of reel? Some are a simple fix like by adding break pads (drums).

Try taking it apart. It could just be a spring that has come loose.

I've been in that boat, you can have it repaired but it will often be more than a new one or finding the same one used on eBay.  If it's super sentimental, I would call John's in Everett as a start.
