Phone scope adapter
« on: June 14, 2021, 10:12:26 PM »
Wanting to get a cell phone spotting scope adapter. Wondering what you guys have? What you like or dislike about it. Willing to spend up to about $30 or so. Thanks.

I have a phone scope with the universal adapter.  Unfortunately I have the wrong model of case for my phone so it isn't great.  The universal adapter is OK, seems pretty hokey for $50, but I don't know if anything else is better.  I think you are in it almost $100 by the time you buy both parts which seems crazy for $4 in plastic.

I picked up a gosky... for the price, the fit and quality surpassed my expectations.

I have phone skope for mine and it's the best I used so far. I tried one of the universal ones before and screwed around with it more tyring to get it to fit right and take good pics. Phonescope is fast and easy.

I looked at the phone skopes and from what hear they are by far the best. But at around $80 they are a little more than I was willing to spend. I opted for the gosky. Bought it on Amazon for $35 and free shipping and got it in 2 days. Tried it out in the back yard and it seems to work fine. It is a little temperamental setting it up which may lead to some frustration in the field if I’m in a hurry but we’ll give it a go.

If you do get to a point where you are going to spend more money on one, get the outdoorsmans phone skope, night and day better than the phone skope brand.

Tines up.  Machined aluminum with a 3 prong, screw adjusted clamp that will adjust to any eyepiece.

Hope it works out for ya, the one I had was the Carson hookupz and it did its job decent. But like you just stated if your in a hurry in the field is very frustrating getting it setup. Missed some good pics because of it and eventually just bit the bullet on the phoneskope. I didnt want to spend the money on a piece of plastic either but now I'm on my second one with a new phone lol thats the only downfall is you have to get a new one when you get a new phone

I'd recommend not giving tines up any money. People easily forget these guys got busted for poaching in CO in 2017 and run a lot of the same bully tactics that mossback has been accused of.

As to the OP's question, i've used some of the cheap universal ones, outdoorsmans, and phone skopes. Phone skope is the biggest name in the game for a reason. They are the best. I settled for the kutdoorsmans though for the simple fact that we change phones too often these days and with the outdoorsman you just move your setup to the new phone case and you're good to go.

Any of you have any experience with Novagrade products?  I know they're maybe a little more on the costly side but the little I have heard about them, over on another forum, has been nothing but very good.  Curious if anyone here has used their stuff.
