Exciting news. I just found out that I had finally drawn a late season Moose tag in GMU 108 Douglas. I was actually a little shocked and think I may had made a mistake in my choices, as I do not remember putting in for a late season hunt for Moose. But heck yeah, I'll take it after waiting approx. 30 years to draw a Washington State moose tag.
I don't know much about this GMU or where to start. This will be my first moose hunt ever. I will be hunting with a .325 WSM, towing a travel Trailer over. Any advice on for this hunt would be greatly appreciated.

Would calling matter that much in the late season?  Seems glassing when the foliage is down is the ticket, but I've never been in that area so can't offer much.  Just enjoy every moment and get out as much as possible to scout the area, learn the roads.  Buy a come a long and some good rope, or winch, ramps to pull it up and into the bed of your truck, just ideas.  Good luck and take lots of pics.

Look for the giant black creatures in the clearcuts and road beds. Late season tags are the better IMO.

And GIANT isn't an over statement!!  Crazy how big and tall those guys can be, reaching up to cut the wind pipe is like being luke skywalker when he gets inside his camel thing to survive. lol

Practice your calling

moose aren’t real vocal come november. I wouldn’t be to concerned with practicing your calling.
Spent time in Aladdin on two bull hunts in the last two years. which is next door to Douglas. There’s a lot of huntable timber company land and state ground. Drive drive drive. And do a lot of glassing. You’ll do fine! Enjoy the experience!

i dont know the unit, but i would plan on lots of driving/glassing for that late tag. more ground you cover, better the odds imo, unless you know a bull is holed up then its a waiting game. good luck. keep us posted

I have killed a few moose in my days and I must say this...moose are big and heavy, shoot them uphill from the truck and make sure you have friends with good backs if you are hiking in to shoot one. Have a ton of fun and don't forget to take lots of photos! I drew the Selkirk any bull permit this year and I plan giving it my all and enjoying every minute of it.

Congrats on your tag.  You will have a great hunt.  Had the tag in 15.  Ended up hunting 14 days seeing 16 different bulls.  One was a masher I couldn’t connect on.  Went again with my partner in 19 on the early hunt and scored a beauty on day 2.   Pm me if you want some information.  I kept a pretty good daily journal.

Late hunt is the way to go.  They are a lot easier to see, but they won't be calling much at all.  Douglas is a bit better than Alladin right now due to the age of the cuts.  With all the logging that has happened in the last two years, Alladin should be real good when browse returns.  Moose are big and eat bushels of food daily.  Find the food and you will find the moose.
