For those that do a lot of shooting/hunting with bow, what is your preference for a type of arrow rest, drop away or containment like Whisper biscuit? Thinking of going to the Trophy Ridge Whisker Biscuit V Max. Currently shooting the Easton 5mm Axis Pro Shafts and feel they are a little sloppy on the current rest.

QAD has never let me down

When my whisker biscuit finally dies I'll probably go with a QAD, but I'm completely happy with it til then.  Some people trash on them, but my bow shoots consistent and I've "Robin Hooded" 4 times with it now at 35yds, so accuracy hasn't been a problem with mine.

I ran the Whisker for years.  My take on em are; perfect in the woods, crawling in the brush etc.  Good shooting to 45y.  Compensates flight when bow is off or out of tune.  I switched to QAD drop and it is so much better shooting longer ranges but bow must be tuned good of course.  Quiet.  Tough.  I love em.  It is old now and can get a little sticky in action on occasion.  Like the capture feature to keep arrow in place and the thumb actuator.

I shoot a rip cord fall away. I concur that my groups are smaller and range extended. I had a whisker as my first rest. It got wore out and i switched.

i finally put a ripcord drop away this year after years of a trophy taker drop away. id def recommend ripcord. as far as whisker biscuit, nothing wrong with them, but i had it explained like this; you want nothing touching that arrow once you release it, too much potential for failure/arrow flight change.  i had one on my very first bow 20 years ago and it worked fine, but im of the mindset to keep everything off the arrow once i release it to prevent any potential mishaps.

Ripcord for me too.  Kids shoot a whisker biscuit and am plenty happy with them too.  I think the whisker biscuit is plenty sufficient for new hunters at reasonable ranges.  hunting partner uses the QAD and he like it too.  Lots of good options out there.

I agree drop away for me. I've been very happy with QAD and trophy ridge pro smackdown rest. I've got a couple bows set up that way. Got tierd of burning through whisker biscuits but I also do alot of shooting.

Hamskea hybrid hunter. It’s a limb driven fall away rest which is awesome because it’s so easy to set up and much easier to fix in the field than a cable drive fall away rest.

Shot QADs for the better part of a decade. Made the switch to a VaporTrail Gen 7x and I have no complaints.

Like the majority have said the fall away rest is the way to go. I’d go with a good limb driven fall away rest like a hamskea or vapor trail. Like burrows said the simplicity of the set up and easily fixable in the field.

Gonna agree with the others on the limb driven rests. If the cord gets messed up in the field its an easy fix - you can even use a shoestring/paracord/etc. Hamskea gets my vote although I had a VaporTrail before with no complaints about it as well.

Thanks to all that responded sounds like the way to go for accuracy is with the drop away and looking at the prices in the catalog some of those rest are in the 200.00 plus price range, Tain't no way I can justify that kinda of a price for just the rest and working with a limited budget, have to go with what fits the budget, so unless there is a decent drop away for under 100.00  looks like it'll be a whisker biscuit.

A hamskea should last the life of your bow. QAD I've heard can freeze up in extreme cold. Whiskers if get wet, can also freeze together. Limb driven is my vote.

What others haven't mentioned over a whisker is the ability to run 4 fletch and offset/helical. This will help quite a bit to stabilize broadheads.

$100 extra is worth the cost. Do what you can to scrap up an extra hundred. Go with your whisker for another season to scrap some things together or do what you can to find an extra $100, but it's not going to be a straight $100.

So it's really a $150 VS under $100 decision.

You're wasting $80 to $100 in my opinion getting another whisker.

You can find a hamskea limb driven rest for way less than new and every transaction I've had on there has been great. Just be mindful of the posters previous dealings which are easy to get a picture of the type of seller they are and you can snag some great deals for your archery equipment

Please please please go for the limb driven drop away it's a huge difference I swear if I had an extra I'd give it to you.

First thanks to everyone e the responded and offered suggestions
Update with the temp already at 95 degrees at 0900 decided indoors was the place to be packed up the bow and headed to N40 to see Adam, decided to  bite the bullet and get me my own B day present 3 months early and had Adam install the QAD ULTRAREST, got back home and glad the man cave has a bed in it, wife not so mad about the purchase but that I bought it and now she has to figure out something else.
Now just need to wait till 0430 tomorrow to give everything a try
