Wolverine in Yakima canyon

I wonder how wdfw intends to protect them from wolves. We all know wolves kill other predators.
Or will this be another species they allow to become extinct in Washington.

I've seen a handful of videos of wolves taking interest in a lone wolverine and then thinking better of it.

Yes sir, we were in the Kamloops B.C area one year for a baseball tourney my son was playing in, we had a few days off and one of the coaches from one of the Canadian teams took us fishing(couldn't even tell you where we were)to a few small streams a couple hours away. We watched one wolverine on a hillside run off 2 big black bears from a deer kill, it was a once in a lifetime experience, those things are nasty. I remember they would swat the wolverine and send it flying, only for it to regain itself and charge at the bears over and over, not backing down but always on the offense from multiple angles, dang ferocious! I,ll never forget seeing it, I was really lucky.

How cool!  I'd pay actual US dollars to see that    I don't think much of anything wants to mess with a wolverine. As the saying goes, the juice ain't worth the squeeze   

  Thats true Karl, I think if I was out and about and had to pick one animal I would not want to run into on a trail that only one of us could pass on, it would probably be a wolverine, after watching that thing take on 2 bears, a person wouldn't have a chance, heck I think id rather take my chances with a bear or a cat after watching that thing go after those bears, we could actually hear it when it would go after them, we were about a hundred yards away, they sound about as nasty as they look when there're pissed off!

Stinky, nasty little beasties.  Wolves have far easier meals about.  Have dealt with there cousin the badger, best to just give them space and enjoy the show.

I’ve been chased by a pair of badgers. Popped out of the ditch, thick stubble and couldn’t see em except when they hit the tire tracks. Zig zagging and running, sure as crap they are still back there    By the time I hit the pickup I was ready for a change of shorts and my cousin probably needed one from laughing so hard

Thats crazy and would be one hell of a surprise to run into on a trail. I watched a badger yard prairie dogs out of their holes this November in Montana, crazy how strong those things are

My mother thought she saw a fisher  a month or two ago by my house in the Wenas.  Of course I figured she was nuts.   Now I wonder if she saw that crossing over into the Yakima canyon. Hmmmminteresting.

Chased one down while it was looking for lunch, and not noticing us following, in Utah two years ago.  It finally saw us at about 25 yards, arched its back and hissed, close enough.  He was a youngster, but wouldn't want to tangle with it at all.
