New Bow.....FPS vs weight

Looking at treating myself to a new bow. Can't decide between 2.....one is a bit faster and the other is about a pound lighter. Opinions???

Which bows are you looking at and deciding between?   

I personally don’t care about speed and would take the lighter bow assuming all else is equal.   Faster is not always better.  I would also take a heavier slower arrow over a lightweight fast arrow.

One is a Diamond Carbon Deploy SB and the other is an Exhibition Archery one. Can't remember the model.

You’ll get a ton of answers going both ways. Shoot them if you can side by side and go with what you like and what feels the most steady while aiming. I like a heavier bow, but that’s just me. Unless you have a really short draw and need the speed I would not worry about it, most of today’s bows are plenty fast. Good luck!

Personally I don't really try to shed weight with my bow as long as I'm rock solid with it then I don't really care about how heavy it is if I know I can shoot X's all day

I am assuming your looking at an expedition. Not a ton of experience with those. My two cents based on a pretty good working knowledge  of the deploy, and interactions with owners of the expedition, and a little bit of shooting and tuning. IMO, it depends alot on what draw weight you plan to shoot. Pros For the deploy: easy access to dealers, good parts availability,  good CS from bowtech/diamond, light platform, adjustable, proven drive train that shoots well l, really well at lower draw weights >60 lbs.  Cons:  doesnt tend to handle speed and high DW real well.
Pros for the expedition: speed, and IMO better enginnering to handle that speed and higher draw weights. Cons: pretty much all the pros of the deploy.

In summary if wanting to shoot a high draw weight fast bow,  i would give the edge to the expedition assuming its one of the few models i researched. (2021)

Sb1 gets my vote in all categories if shooting 60ish pounds or less.

There is a lot in this that is unknown. I wouldnt go off published ibo speed or weight. Having a faster bow and getting it in a lighter draw weight is nice. Haveing a bow with less mass is nice to pack but has down fails in shoot ability.

Yep, everyone's said it. Shoot them both and see what feels better. I would probably choose the lighter bow, but it depends on how big of a gap there is between IBOs of each bow.

Someone mentioned Xpedition. I love Xpedition but their claimed speeds are a wee bit higher than real life speeds. I shoot an MX-16 -- pamphlet says 340 IBO, I chronographed it for the first time last Friday and got 291 FPS. My draw length is 29.5", 65# limbs turned down once, and I was shooting a 365 gr. arrow.

My buddies were with me shooting a Matthews and another Xpedition from 2018. They were both zinging 435 gr. arrows between 250-270 FPS and I tell you what, my arrows shoot way faster and flatter. Speed is nice to have, BUT 1lb savings on a bow can go a long way.

The good Ol speed vs weight debate. Usually talking about heavy vs light arrows though.
Main thing is bow comfort/ feel is Most important.  Speed doesn’t matter if you don’t like how your bow feels. I can tell you a 385 gr. Arrow at 292 fps will pass through deer and elk most of the time and blow through big mule deer at 85 yards. No question Light arrow flat trajectory for me all day long. Shoot several bows and one will stand out, that’s your bow.
