Adjusting sights?
« on: July 13, 2021, 04:47:23 AM »
I have a question about adjust glock rear sight. I’m not a very experienced shooter. I just got my 1st G34 having come from M&Ps. I shot those right out of the box without any issues.

My G34 shoots good groups at 15 yards but about 3” left of POA. I adjusted my new Dawson sights to hit POA to POI. My issue is that looking at the rear sight it’s obvious that the sight is way closer to the right hand side of the firearm. This bothers me. Should it or is this ok? Or is there an issue with the firearm?

Also I am aware that this issue could be me. I shot it off a rest and had same results. Thanks

It is you, you have to pull the trigger straight back, seems simple but you are putting pressure where it doesn't need to be.  If you keep your eyes open and watch the front sight you will be able to see it yourself, especially if your Dawson FS is narrower then stock.  Try shooting off the bench again but just in the general direction of a backstop, not trying to hit a target.  Prep the trigger until it just about breaks and then direct your focus on bringing the trigger straight back the rest of the way.  You might be able to see a shift left or low/left.

An experienced Glock shooter will be able to show you right away.  A Master or better USPSA shooter who shoots a Glock will be able to confirm it.  There are a few around, where are you located?

Now you have to make a choice. Adjust the gun in some way, grip addition, different or modded trigger, to make it so you hold and squeeze 'properly', or change the way your shoot it, or adjust the sight so the gun shoots well 'for you'. Kind of depends on what you are doing with it. Self defense? You want it to shoot where you grab it, aim and shoot naturally and easily without thinking about it.
You might consider having someone else shoot it to see if they get the same results, but you will probably find it is actually you. Whether it is grip hold, 'finger on the trigger' placement, whatever.
I had a number of Glocks and have '0' now. There are other brands that seemed more 'natural' in my hands.
Cuterebra are NOT cute!
