Poor mans bear rug mount
« on: August 30, 2021, 07:19:33 PM »
With the cost of lumber so expensive I made this wall frame for my bear rug for relatively cheap. I used 6ft cedar fence boards and made it 7x8 feet. Used black drywall screws to screw it together and Brad nails for the inside boards. Used metal plates on the corners of the frame for strength.

Thanks brotha! I looked at the price tag for cedar at Home Depot and said there’s gotta be another way 😂. I needed it to be cedar to match my wood wall in the living room. Stained everything with minwax golden oak if anyone wants to know the stain color

Looking at the ends curious if you dado jointed the ends for what looks like a nice tight fit?

On the tongue and groove on the wall or the rug back? But both of them I usually make 2 cuts per board but just keep it a flat cut. One close then I shave half a blade or a blade off to fit them. The backing for the bear I really liked the way fence boards aren’t perfect so it gives that rough cut look with a gap here and there.
