Looking at seriously going for my first bear this year. This guy looks like he might be a decent one! Any thoughts? Full size glock 19.

What I’ve learned from people on here, reading, and seeing bears  camera next to piles. It’s that the size of the pile doesn’t really matter, it’s the size of the pieces in the pile. Just like a lab poop be a toy cup poodles poop.

Did it taste like blackberries?

Larger bears should have larger diameter logs. Hard to tell but that looks like a runny pile without distinguishable logs. See if you can find some tracks nearby. That being said, with your first, just go for it regardless of size!

Eh, poop piles can be misleading. I think it has more to do with what they're eating than the size of the bear. I've seen smaller bears leave some huge piles and vice versa. First bear I ever killed was leaving some massive coke-can diameter piles, we thought oh boy we have a 300+ here. Finally killed him and he was about 190-210ish, this was before trail cams and I wouldn't have believed it was the same bear if he hadn't relieved himself one last time at the sight of the kill. To this day some of the biggest turds I've seen out of a black bear. But by all means that could be a good bear and I say go for it!
