Just want to say.,if you feel you need to sharpen in the field .
I would if needed.Better than being dull and making the job harder than it is.

Since we are talking knives in this topic.
Anybody seen or has one of these.
Got it through a hand me down type deal.
Western w36 or something like that ,think they where pretty common a few years back.
yes ive been collecting western hunting knives for yrs. Prob have 60 in my collection along with Buck 119's various ww2 knives..The western with a sheath on e bay go as high as $100

https://www.amazon.com/Work-Sharp-Pocket-Knife-Sharpener/dp/B07CW6CNFR/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3TJAPT4YKDCUN&dchild=1&keywords=work+sharp+pocket+knife+sharpener&qid=1627257158&sprefix=worksharp+pocket%2Caps%2C260&sr=8-2

I picked up one of these from worksharp, not bad for touching the blade up in the field between sharpening.
I've got a half dozen different back country sharpeners and this is one I'd recommend. It's a little bulky, but really lightweight.

Replaceable blades in the field and sharpen my custom made butchering knives while cutting meat. My cousin built me some butchering knives and I usually get 3 or more whole deer cut up before having to sharpen them.
