I wish I had a Manson Unit tag with this wheather!!
« on: November 12, 2007, 11:49:27 AM »
I hunted the Manson unit for over fifteen years. And the lucky buggers with the five tags should have one of the best years ever. I' m telling you guys, this is one of the most under rated and under hunted units of the state. Partly because it is sooo steep and partly because the best parts are accessed by horses and mules. If there are any Hunt WA members that drew these tags, please report after your hunt.

Do you care talking a little bit about the unit?

I hear somewhat that you can get to alot of it buy boat from Lake Chelan. Is it pretty well roadless, and are there trails into it that arent "Pack stock" accessible?

I'm young and dumb so very much like to torture myself physically if it means I can distance myself from roads and other hunters.

Alot of the area can be hunted off the road that goes up from Wapato point thru South Naverra camp and back towards Windy Gap. I have hunted grouse high above that unit and seen some monster bucks although not as many since that big winter kill awhile back. Heres a buck taken from there  http://www.trophyphotos.com/imagedetail.php?photoid=12326
