aberdeen weyerhaeuser access questions
« on: August 02, 2021, 08:26:24 AM »
So after trying to get vail, than pe ell, than longview, i finally was able to get aberdeen. I than at the last minute put my son in for a couple doe tags for that area he is 13. he than drew minot peak. ive never hunted the area before so its all new to me. Access day was yesterday so we grab a rifle and went for a drive. we saw 9 deer 3 of them bucks. saw some bear sign and one coyote. we left about 2. mainly stayed on the main lines. My questions are. what are deer number like in there specifically minot peak? or any other units in there wynochee, north river, satsop will work also, what are the elk numbers like in there? bear? I've heard good things. what can be expected for late archery or late muzzy? I have multi season. Any information i can get will be appreciated. lastly where do you guys find firewood I only found one decent spot with enough wood to warrant some time and it wasn't much. thanks for your time.

I don't hunt out there, but I spend quite a bit of time out there for work. I'd say the deer and elk populations are solid but I don't see many mature bucks/bulls. Have not found any sizeable sheds out that way. See quite a bit of bear sign and seen a few. Have seen an unusual high number of bobcats compared to other parts of the state  :twocents:

Lots of deer out there. I've seen 5 bobcats the last couple years. Lots of chanterelle mushrooms too. Older reprod for the mushrooms and towards the west end towards the highway.

I don't believe Minot is open for late muzzy elk.
