Well filters
« on: August 09, 2021, 02:33:17 PM »
My house has a large carbon filled filter unit and it works pretty well, where I live the water is high in iron and a bunch of other stuff but the filter seems to do it’s job…

Where my cabin is at the water isn’t the greatest, it needs to be filtered, but because I am there infrequently I don’t want to invest in a large system as it freezes and i don’t want to risk rupturing anything.

Is there such thing as a small unit that I can attach to where the hose hooks up to make the water safe to use that I can unhook and drain and store when I’m not there? I’d like to be able to fill up a couple of IBC totes and have potable water on hand but don’t have the plumbing in place for a permanent system beyond the well itself

There are point of use filters meant to be installed under the sinks in houses. It would be pretty easy to get some adapters and hook one of these up.

Any RV place will have inline potable water filters that will attach right onto a garden hose.

You’re looking for a spin down filter. Runs you about 70 bucks at the home depot and can be drained and flushed without removal. Or untwist and take off as needed.

We just bought a cabin and the water there is not great either. Haven’t really familiarized myself much with the well/pressure tank/holding tank/pump house yet. But from what I have looked at the guy before installed one of the RV water filters in line before the holding tank. I’ll probably pull it soon and see what comes out of it when I hit it with the air compressor. Then decide how often I need to change it out
