Lots of great info guys. Looks like a couple cots is the way to go. Can double as a setup when taking a buddy.
Or a grandkid😀

My daughter is 17, so hopefully I've got some time!!  :chuckle:

I have an accordion queen bedframe and a Coleman mattress That I never use. They're awesome. Keeps your bed easy to get into and you can store items underneath. I'll trade you for something. Some .30-30 ammo or something.

I don't have plans to, but I suppose that could change! I appreciate the offer!

If she's fairly light and nimble (no response necessary here) you can get the bunk bed cots, really frees up space.   Put her on top, warmer up there.

When it comes to car camping with the wife, nothing really beats a quality queen double high air mattress.  Sure, cots are nice for space when hunting and with the guys, but I bet you won't have that much stuff where under cot space is mandatory.  We run a quality queen, with a two man sleeping bag from North Face.  Stay warm, conformable, sleep like you do in your home bed, no complaints and the wife loves it a billion times better.  She sleeps better next to and in contact with me, so if she sleeps better, I sleep better.  We run the 10x14 kodiak and have plenty of space with the air mattress.  I'd highly suggest this route unless that needed space under a cot is really needed.

You are clearly (and correctly) assuming that I am neither of those things!  :chuckle:

no sir, I assume nothing other than she might like sleeping a bit warmer than you.

My bro uses a bunk cot, tosses all his gear up there and leaves the floor space.

I use a single cot, and toss all my gear on the floor   :chuckle:

I don't imagine a 68 pound tent being set up very far from the truck, so gear storage is probably not a huge deal.

I got the smaller Kodiak canvass tent and was pissed to find out my cot won't fit inside   :bash:   :bash:

It's my ATV, bike and snowmobile tent.

for a truck tent I'd get the bigger 68 pounder too

I got the 10x10 deluxe. I think it'll do OK for us.

I personally like cots unless you and the old lady have to be on the same bed. The space saved by being able to put things under a cot is super nice. A good cot pad is all you need for a quality night's rest

 :yeah:

Ex camper from hell here.  Another huge bonus is you can sit on the cot while getting in and outta bed and also to put shoes on.  I used those "cheap" 4 inch foam pads.

It's a nice setup. I think I paid $100 for the frame and $60 for the mattress. But I haven't used either in years. I also have a cot.

Best mattress I’ve used for car camping is the Thermarest mondoking. Feels like my mattress at home… I just wish it was lighter so I could lug it into the backcountry  :chuckle:
