I have owned 3, currently two and chose them after comparing to everything under the sun... Kimber, Weatherby(with the spiderweb stock and fluted barrel=sweet)Remington Mountain, Savage,... Ruger was never in the running....only other rifle I would pick would be its' cousin, Sako or Steyr Mountain Lite.
Tikkas always shoot great, best out of box trigger, I like the detachable plastic mag, the stock is, well a low cost composite, but not bad and it shoots great.
The factory rings have worked ok, but that's the only suspect piece on it.
Can't imagine pulling a swivel stud out, but any rifle can let one go if you work hard enough.
Plastic parts don't scare me.
Great lightweight, accurate, well made firearm.
Did I mention they shoot?
BTW, 300WSM and 7-08...traded a 300WSM wood/blued for same cartridge, stainless/synth.
If you don't like yours, somebody will grab it in a minute.
I am looking for one in 243 right now.

I have a tikka in .300 wsm...I use 165 grain bullets.

Everyone animal I have shot with it (and hit :chuckle:) has died in one shot.

2 bears, 1 deer and a poor coyote.(Ive had it two seasons). I enjoy it and have no troubles recommending it. I would buy another anytime I could.

I just bought one in a 300wsm stainless model.  Haven't shot it yet but everything I've read says it's the best bang for the buck.  I was trying to decide between a Tikka and a Browning X-Bolt but I figured I'd save the extra $300 and put it towards glass.  Those X-Bolts are sweet guns but I just couldn't pull the trigger on the price.  The stock reminds me of my kids' toys (cheap plastic) but I'm anxious to get out and shoot the thing.  If I don't like it for whatever reason, I know I'll have no trouble selling it.

i bought a 270wsm last year and love the thing.  I hand loaded some 140gr barnes tsx bullets and got 1/2" moa.  i'm going to try and use some 130gr this year.  Shot my deer in the chest at 250yds and when i skinned the hind quarter you could touch the bullet.  1/2" further and the bullet would of went all the way through him.....oh.i also hit some bone in the front quarter.  I have the bullet and it looks exactly like the advertised photo of the barnes bullets after impact.  getting off subject, but i would recommend this gun to anyone....shoots awesome, light weight, don't have to worry about rust, and great price......i would recommend a limbsaver though.

:)The only bad comment is from a guy who thinks Weatherbys 5's are better than worthless junk marketing hype crap. I'd put the worst tikka ever built against the best weatherby junk anytime. and yup I have owned weatherby junk.
All the other Japanese built guns are better than the weatherby mark5s.      brownings, howas, vanguards. etc. all better
If Old timers want to talk FN's they are a bit different.
I like Tikkas for what they cost, I prefer Sako. There are many good rifles, most the guns available now to the public are far better than the average shooter needs.

Carl, I could give 2 *censored*s if you like weatherby's or not. That wasn't the question. The question was about tikkas. As stated before, their stocks are just short of hot trash, 1 action length for all calibers, cheap plastic clips that are spendier than hell to replace. As I stated, everyone I've been around has shot good, but so have most remmy's, brownings, savages, sako's etc. Personally, I'd spend my money on something else, Browning A-bolt comes to mind, never been around a bad a-bolt, same money, hellava lot better stock, better mag, fits ME better. So there you have it, MY opinion.

I love my tikka t3 .270 great gun..havnt killed anything with it yet(have not had it a long time) The only thing I dont like due to its light weight, good amount of recoil..when i get the money I am gonna put a muzzle break on it.its not the kick that bothers me its the muzzle flip...my tikka is very accurate..i have no problem shooting a can of beans at 150 yards and I am a bad shot......

my tikka t3 hunter in 300 win mag is my go to gun, period. with my hand loads it shoots -1/2" groups at 200 yards and hits like a ton of bricks. the riffle also fits me perfect. i cant say enough good things about them. the stock doesn't bother me at all, but then again im not the kinda guy that has a bunch of safe queens, my guns are tools and they get used. ive dragged my tikka though hell and its never missed a beat

:)Up you one 257 wby guy, I dont give 3 *censored*s. :chuckle: I'll give ya a couple more opinions, Browning abolts are crap too, just way better crap than a weatherby5, I make all my comment at the mark5 multilug bolt total piece of junk wby. Actually the Brown Abolt would be OK if they got rid of that mag system.
All the other jap bolt guns you cant tell one from the other. Howa, brown, Vangaurd is much bettrer gun than any Mark5, etc, they are all OK, all will kill game, all will shoot better than most shooters, none compare to Tikka or Sako or FN or Whitworth and many others. The plastic Tikka Mag does not bother me at all, it works, it wont bend or dent, and today many plastics work much better than metal. The synthetic stock is as good as any factory offering and  long /short action comparisons have no validity in hunting rifles and may not in bench rest (in BR they 'Might") if you are a good enough shot, say Dave Tubbs class, but you aint in Dave Tubbs class.

I have never heard of a multi-lug bolt gun (more than 2 lug) worth owning.

Carl, if you like em, good for you. I don't. So whats the point in having a short action caliber, in a long action? Think about, clue;the inherit accuracy benifits? Come on, remember PPC cartridges? Anyhow, if you dig em, great. As far as the mags go, I've seen 2 fail. One was last year, a pard lost the chance at a 145'' type buck on a guided hunt in S. Oregon. Blacktail that is. Hellava time for the spring to pop out the top. The other was the same, spring and follower coming out the top, but at a bench. Show me a target, from a Ultra Light mtn style factory rifle, shootin FACTORY ammo, group like this. Not too bad for a 9 lugger... Top it! Laffin....

Positives:  Smooth, crisp, adjustable trigger.  Smooth cycling bolt.  About 1 lb lighter then comparable rifles for the money.  Great ergonomics (I love the slight palm swell on my T3 25-06).  Accurate (getting 1.5" groups at 200 yards with 117 Sierra Gamekings).

Negatives:  Seems to rust easier then other blued guns (I've even heard the stainless has).  Something to definitely keep up on.  Cheap plastic shroud (haven't had a problem with it lugging it around 2 years now).  The plastic mag does not bother me, I actually like it, seems to lock up better than my Rem's or other mag fed guns.  One last negative for me, that I haven't seen mentioned, is the small loading/ejection port.  It makes it tough for single feeding rounds.  You learn to over-come it.

I'll keep mine, for a cheap gun and lightweight, it'll fill my niche for hike in muley's, and a great starter gun for my wife or kids.
