Picked lots of chants yesterday, probably 10 lbs or more.

Quick question. These have popped up in profusion my chanterelle spot. Would they be lobster? Real meaty with a heavy stalk.

It's a lobster.  When they rot they will become very light and mushy.  I like to break the rotten ones up and spread them around.  I think doing this has made my lobster spot grow.

I've been doing this on my property. While I don't have lobsters growing there, they do grow right up the road. I do, however have quite a bit of short stem russula that fruits on my property. Lobsters, as many of you probably already know, are a short stemmed russula (I believe it happens on a few other species as well) that has been parasiticized by the Hypomyces lactifluorum fungus. My hope Is I can introduce the parasitic fungus and turn my short stem russalas to lobsters eventually... Has anyone ever heard of this? or tried it?

Lobster Mac and cheese is how my kids scarf em down! Some of the color comes off in the sauce sometimes too. Good eating!

Got another 30lbs last night and my friends got another 20. My spot has so many it’s crazy. Spent hours last night processing. Also found some smooth chanterelles, a small chicken o da woods and some old lobsters

What're ya'll looking for in surrounding areas to find good spots? I found a lot of mycelium activity but no chantrelles. (east sider though)

I’m on the west side and I have spots I visit every year. I found a tough to get to spot last year and this year I have personally harvested about 70lbs of shrooms from there this year. I look for older forest with lots of fallen logs and starting to rot wood. I find woods that look si militar and walk until I spot a shroom or 2 then mark it. I seem to find spots when I’m looking for grouse. Go grouse hunting and be observant for shrooms while your out there.

Yesterday I found a bunch- started to find some that are getting that slimey, over-mature look to them. And not as many new ones sprouting. Hopefully they're not all on the way out.

Yeah right now is the time. I think I’m another week or 2 and they will be mostly rotten and harder to find good ones. Especially if we get a freeze after the rain

They'll continue to grow until we get several freezes in a row. Lower elevations and the coast will see them until December and sometimes, January.

They'll continue to grow until we get several freezes in a row. Lower elevations and the coast will see them until December and sometimes, January.

Yeah it’s just I think right now is the prime time. Afterward I spend more time sorting through rotten ones or partially rotten. Most of them right now are perfect. I do agree you can find them for a while longer and oysters and hedgehogs are out too later on. I’ve been searching pretty hard for bears tooth and haven’t found any. I’ve also found less cauliflower this year but that’s prob just me.
