Diver Help
« on: August 07, 2021, 10:51:23 PM »
Hey guys, I知 a fairly new duck hunter of about 3 years now, and just moved to Tacoma from OK. I知 looking to get into diver hunting up here and am trying my best to figure it out on my own. I loaded up on some Canvasback and BB decoys, and am trying to get some gang rigs started. Do you guys have preferred materials for DIY rigs? Or what brand of premade rigs do you buy? TIA, and thanks for having me. PFA.

I just use paracord with decoy clips spaced out on it, put a weight on one end and good to go.

Any issues with decoys tangling in the wind by just using the one weight?

Keep it simple. Small groups, Less than 10, just clip to a line. I have loops tied in. Paracord is great. My long line
, 200', has evenly spaced loops. The blocks that hook to that have a 30" dropper that stay on the decoy with a quick clip. Hook on as you roll it out. Keep your blocks tight to avoid lots of swinging tangles. If you get a lot of wigeon coming in, look at using the clear tanglefree? stuff. It really does keep them from spooking.

Tons of youtube videos that can help on this.  i use tarred droppers 18"-24" with clips.  I use 5lb claw anchors at both ends of the string and have 120' long long lines on each spool.  I will clip them on the long lines 2'-4' apart depending on the look I want.  I have ran up to 20 lines.  Almost 200 decoys at times.  Typically run 6-10 lines in some of the areas I currently hunt.  https://doctarilonglines.com/ has all the supplies you may need or you can take a look at what they have and locate or build them on your own.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Thank you guys for all of the answers, I really appreciate it. I'll let you know what I end up going with. Now I just gotta figure out how to find the divers, but I'll save that for a different thread. Lol
