First Rattlers (super whities) of the season
« on: November 10, 2007, 11:29:44 AM »
the whitetails are just starting to move.  My first one came just prior to shooting light or at shooting light.  It was raining and I was waiting for light to improve before I entered into Mulie country.  I haven't rigged my camera for rain yet, but managed to slip under a big pine.  I pointed the camera down one lane then got ready for another.  I slammed the antelrs together for about 45 seconds, then looked over my shoulder.  Standing behind my pickup was this fellow looking at me.  He disappeared as fast as he showed up, but headed toward my shooting lane.  It was dark enough that I couldn't see anything in my viewfinder.  I just pointed and shot.  These are the two images I came up with.  Idabooner and I rattled here a couple days prior and nothing.  I think this guy would be considered a shooter.  I'll let you NE corner bound boys decide.

Second buck....this is freehand, and as you can see should have used a tripod.  Sorry for the poor images.  He wouldn't come any closer

Really nice bucks, we're going to attempt some rattling up in the NE next weekend, never tried it before, but from what I hear if you do it right it should help out.

It works now pretty well, but the bucks wise up pretty fast when alot of hunters get in the woods.

Done in Washington.  I still have Idaho, but having too much fun chasing bucks closer to home.  I flirt alot around the border, so if I happen to be over in the hood, I might capitalize.

I'm not sure.  i wish I would have had more time to study him.   Maybe I can rattle him up again tomorrow, but I doubt it.  He'll be long gone.

If you see a Blue Dodge in a mudhole, feel free to stop by and pull me out.  Who are you guiding, family friends, or clients?

Just friends who can never seem to get a deer, I have to show them how its done I guess, although I know mule deer hunting way better than white-tail hunting so this should be a challange for me.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I found them this year but they wre last years sheds.  About a mile I guess from where the buck was seen.  Maybe not that far, but out of what I thought was his core area.  For a deer though, about a 5 minute hike.  I searched and searched for his sheds last year.  As I walked up upon them I was pumpe dup because I thought they were a match.  As I got closer it was obvious they weren't.  That was cool in itself.  It has a bunch of the characterisics including the sweeping heavy beam.  I thought for sure, but I sure didn't get a good enough picture. I'll go back and see if I can get a bit of a different angle.  He didn't stand there long.
