Quail
« on: January 15, 2024, 04:22:36 PM »
Grandma has been feeding her birds all fall.  In the last few days, have had close to 40 picking seeds in the yard and in the feeder on the deck.
These 4 have huddled up together. She wants to cover them up with a small blanket.

Seen a few last year huddled up like that.
Then went out the next day and a few of them froze to death.
Same time, turkeys was standing around like flamingo.

That's how you know it's cold.

Hardy little birds. So long as they have cover thick enough to block wind and dry bare ground they will forge on. Those low juniper? hedges are amazing cover around homes. And shoot all feral ditch tigers.
