New to Washington Dove Hunting
« on: August 18, 2021, 06:49:21 PM »
I am trying to get my son off the video games and into hunting, I thought doves would be a good start. I am originally from Louisiana and have no clue where to go. I am looking for a spot in KITSAP or Mason county, anyone know of some good locations in this area or on the West side period?

I don’t know if you’re still on this convo. But I live in Mason county too, is there any spots near belfair that are good for dove hunting?

To be honest, not enough to be worth your wild. If you're trying to get kids going, I would try the Rayonier Land off of Bear Creek Dewatto. Usually can find a few small flocks along the clear cut roads eating grit.

Dove in WA are a pretty hard game compared to the South.  Had some great hunts in NM, but in WA the best can be found east of the passes in places like Yakima, etc.  But the best day of Dove in WA cannot hold a candle to the worst day in the SW US!

Might look into grouse hunting - season starts early, runs long and can make for some nice days walking the logging roads.
