I had my new Browning Hells Canyon Speed 270 win out to the range again today. It doesn’t seem too picky, about ammo. Today I shot Hornady American Whitetail 130’s, Hornady Superperformance 130 SST and Federal Premium with 130 Scirocco 2’s.

All grouped well, but the SST AND Scirocco loads are obviously faster/flatter. I’m really torn on which to go with as my primary. Anyone have any experience with the performance of these bullets on impact? Both grouped well in the 1/2-3/4 range. Even when I got the gun really warm it was still acceptable. I do think the Federal with the Scirocco’s may be a little tighter, but not enough to worry about if one bullet is better than another on game.

I have only ever shot one animal with the scirocco bullets. It preformed well, I think they also hold up well.

I have shot several animals with the sst. They preform more like a ballistic tip and I haven't seen big weight retention. They kill well but do blood shot a lot. If you are hunting elk and bigger game I would lean towards the scirocco myself so you get more weight retention incase you hit more solid bone.

Thank you, it's good to hear real world results

superformances have done great for me out of my .243 on coyotes but I’ve never shot them out of my .270 at big game. I’ve done great with precision hunters out of my .270

Sciroccos over the SSTs any day.

Shot a bear with the ssts 3 times out of a win mag and no pass through at 200 yds

Terrible weight retention too. 2 of the shots were in the ticker

Sciroccos all day long. I shot a cow elk at 200yds in the St. Helens area in 2011. The bullet entered in between the shoulder blades. The bullets did not exit due to having to penetrate the spine , but expended all the energy in the chest cavity. She didn’t go far at all. I would definitely use the Scirracco.
