Teanaway Muzzy Cow Tag
« on: August 27, 2021, 05:52:46 PM »
Hi all,

I haven't seriously hunted elk since my high school and college days.  I used to live in Dayton WA and my family hunted in the Blue Mountains.  I have started hunting again due to my son's interest in it and after several years of putting in for it, I drew the Teanaway Muzzle-loader Cow Tag.  I now live in the Snoqualmie/North Bend area.

I am somewhat familiar with Teanaway from hunting spring turkey, but the few times I've been in there I haven't seen elk.  Would any of you be kind enough to point  me at an area I can start scouting in?  My tag is for early October, right before modern firearm deer season starts.

Thanks for you time!

Tim

To say the least you're gonna have a tough hunt if you're not scouting. There all elk there but they're hard to find. It's especially going to be a hard hunt since the teanaway community forest is closed. Best bet is to hit the woods every weekend and cover a lot of different areas till you find sign

Thanks, I'm looking at access options, and I agree. Central Cascades Forest LLC closed for fire hazard too. Starting to think getting my points back might be the way to go this year.

Lots of area in that unit. More should open as it gets closer and the weather turns. Scouting is great, but those elk move a ton. Especially with wolves in random pockets in the unit. Should still be rutting so drive around at night and listen for bugles. Mark it on your gps and hit it the next morning. You’ll find one

It's a good tag.
No reason to turn your tag back.

I'd be surprised if you can't access it by October.... but I've been wrong before.
