Mule Deer High Country Hunting/ Teanaway 335
« on: August 30, 2021, 10:04:53 PM »
Kind of new here. I am just looking for anyone interested or experienced in high country hunting that would like to add a hunting partner to their arsenal. I am very interested in hitting trailheads and getting into the high country but none of my other hunting buddies seem keen on it. I am serious about it and I am in good shape and have the determination, I just do not want to go alone because I have type 1 diabetes, which I have had for 15plus years, and it is in control, I just do not want to run the risk if I am by myself out there. Also, I am interested in going high into the Teanaway because it is close to home and would make the most sense time wise for me, but I would be open to about anything. So, if anyone has any info they’d like to share or are interested in joining me or having me join them for some backcountry hunting let me know please.

It's beautiful up there but the deer and elk that didn't get eaten by cats and wolves have migrated to other areas. Mostly private land. I quit hunting up there many years ago. I did go there for a short time last year though. I only saw 1 cougar while there. No deer or elk. It's hard to find a track up there now (except for wolves, cougars, and bears). I do love hiking up there still. The biggest wolf track I've ever seen was in that unit.
The exercise and scenery is certainly worth it.

This same post has been made on every single area in WA east of the crest. All those wolves and cougars must be up there surviving on bugs and berries eh? Agree the densities can be somewhat low in certain areas but they're still up there for those who want to work for em.

even if you find a partner...take a InReach GPS/communication device with you.

I hunt mostly solo and the InReach is always with me.
