Gardner help
« on: September 12, 2021, 06:35:43 PM »
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this...

For some reason I've been reluctant to ask for help, but I drew a Gardner mule deer tag this year.  At first I was extremely excited but after talking with several people about this hunt I have mixed feeling.  As many of you know, due to the fires this year the Game Department is offering to give our points back if we turn in our tags.  I'm still planning on hunting.  I'm heading over with my family next weekend to scout.  I know things will be different in November, but want to learn the area a little better.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I hope everyone has a great year! Thanks again.

I'm honestly thinking it'll be a pretty good hunt. I was over visiting my folks over labor day in mazama and the visibility on the south hill of the valley should be great. I'd echo getting in up high by early Winters creek but that's also really the only area I ever spend time in over there. Good luck, I'd think those fires did more good than bad.

Although I was seeing alot more mule deer does down low this year but the old man hasn't been getting the bucks on the cameras so I'm assuming they're still up there.

Keep an eye on the closures due to the fire.  Currently a decent proportion of the unit is closed. The FS has said that more closure updates are coming in the next few weeks.

Good luck and I hope you are able to hunt!
