Lincoln sheep

Anyone know anybody who has ever had one of these tags or seen any pics of rams taken on this tag.  Doesn't get talked about too much.

You're right, a large portion of that is private.

There is no public land where the sheep hang out at, but the guys who draw the tag always get there sheep. There sheep hang out all around in the lincoln area i see them all the time. I saw the group of bachlore rams the other day, theres 8 of them. Couple of nice ones but i have no idea how to judge them, I would shoot them if i ever draw the tag.  :twocents:

I know (indirectly) the guy that shot the ram from last year or was it 2007.  (Sorry, I am losing track of time and can't remember stuff anymore)  Anyway, one of my friends, well his father-in-law took one of the Lincoln Rams in the last two years.

It is very much private, but many folks will let you hunt as they are nuisances to the folks that live there.  Pretty destructive to their yards and landscaping.  This is one of the more open/rural sheep interaction units.  Not very high in elevation, just happens to be the type of terrain that the Sheep like on the Breaks of the Columbia/Lake Roosevelt.

I haven't decided if I am going to apply for it or not.  I haven't started considering it until about the last two years.l

Whacker1, I think i know the guy you are talking about. My buddy took him around down here scouting and hunting. He got excited when he was on the group of rams and shot one of the smaller ones. I forgot the guys name though. Yea some people let you hunt the sheep if you draw. I would bowhunt them if i get the tag.

For what it's worth, here is what Huntin' Fool says about Lincoln: "California Bighorns; private land issues make this a tough hunt.  Hunting in and around developed areas; a few good rams, population estimated at 75-80 animals.  Unit quality and ram numbers have declined".
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

I'd heard that the number of shootable rams had dropped greatly there in past years.
