FHA used to but them. Maybe you would say they sold them for you but they paid a set amount. One year I shipped 150 tails. They paid $3/tail for tails that measured 8 inches across stretched and 50 cents for smalls. I never shipped smalls as it was too much work for 50 cents.
Now when I say  8 inches across that is the tail opened up and the two sides left connected on one edge. They had to be handled this way. They wouldn't take them if the two sides were separate from each other.
I saved them until the end of the season to skin but you cannot let them set too long in the freezer. They freezer burn fairly easy and it makes them difficult to skin.
I did a little less skinning then the guy in the OP. Get them started and you can grasp the butt edge with pliers and pull them off. I found them pretty easy to flesh but it is like anything else, it takes a few to figure it out.

That's how I do it, skin down both sides about an inch and put the tailbone in a vise and then pull off both sides with pliers.  One side always has more fat than the other side.  I messed up a couple the first time I tried fleshing them.  Specialty Tannery used to tan them any color you wanted for $6.50 per side.

I do mine a bit different. I skin them up the sides like in the video except I separate the two sides. Skin up both sides a few inches. Then I put them in a vise, grab the edge w vise grips and pull. The side strips off real nice, repeat w the other side. Then I clamp them to my fleshing beam and flesh. Throw the stripped tail and fleshings into a bucket and out in the sun it goes. Making tail oil.

I’ve got it down to split and fleshed in about 15 mins. I use a beaver skinner knife and lay flat on a laminated top my grandad gave me. Works pretty well. Might have to look into the vice/channel lock method for taking the tail bone out. That seems to give us the most trouble

Any of you guys salt them after fleshing? Or is putting them up the way to go? I’ve salted all mine so far and wonder if I made a mistake or if that’s ok
