Elk herd crossing
« on: September 23, 2021, 08:12:21 AM »
My fiance' took this video while on her way to work Tuesday morning. Pretty dang good sized herd for up here. I wonder if the fires in that area merged a bunch of elk together?

Yeah that could definitely be because of the fire near there. There's not even enough cover for a herd that size in that area. They can cover alot of ground in no time though. Never seen elk there before.  :dunno:

in 15 years of hunting in north east Washington by collvile we have only seen 3 cow elk cross the road in front of us! :dunno:
Do it right the first time,

                       not the second.

Last year driving through there around this time I saw a herd of nearly that size out there in a field just about dusk. Buddy took some pictures as we’ve lived here our whole lives and never seen a herd that big. I’ve seen maybe a dozen as the largest group before that. On Boulder pass 5 years ago or so a heard of 40+ elk were milling about the road. Tons of pictures and a lot of us searched for days and no ones found that herd again in the whole kettle crest. They can cover ground fast!
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen
