Opening day
«
on:
September 12, 2021, 09:26:38 PM »
Quite day, couple bugles in the morning with no sighting but a bear at 25 yards. Took off running. Somewhat still/slow stalking the timber, heard a stick break twice, sure enough it’s an elk, couldn’t see head gear to make sure it’s legal, sure enough see a main beam I figured he’s a shooter, stepped out into the open at 25 yards, full pass thru, he ran out To 61 yards from me an tipped over.
Solo butcher an packout are brutal. Don’t wanna do that again.

Awesome bull. Congrats!
I hear ya on the sore thing. I had the Mrs to help with my spike, and we both are sore all over. Getting an elk out at the young age of 56 is no easy task anymore.

So I roughly scored the bull myself to the best abilities, n personally I’m faily new to hunting 5th year I believe, so idk how to read the scores or what it means. I used the Boone an Crocket spread sheet.
Grossed out at about 345 2/8
Final was 332 7/8.
