Favorite floro leaders

What is everyone using?

Was on the Cowlitz using 12lb Pline, about 4 or 5 feet, and got snagged a few times. One time I have it two quick tugs to try and get it free, test the snag, and it snapped on me way too easily. Might have got cut by a sharp rock, okay. Another time I started the pull to either get it back or break it off, again for 12lb that broke too easily. Using a Wiggler, had what I assumed was a steelhead, hit it and instantly snapped. WTH... Yes, I wet the knots each time.

Got rid of it and used regular mono leaders with much more strength and no unexpected breaks. However, would like a good floro, so what are y'all using?

I had a similar experience with p line and haven't used it since. I haven't tried any other fluoro so I cant help there. I Just use mono.

If you really need it use Seaguar or Berkley.  Seaguars blue label is good and Berkley Trilene or  Vanish ..

Pline has always been junk in my book.

That said I mostly just use mono anymore. Berkley big game serves me well.

A couple days ago I broke off a coho on Seaguar 40# fluoro.  I've broken p-line as well and am pretty much done with the stuff in general.  It's expensive and doesn't hold anywhere near the rating.  It's supposed to be invisible in the water but when I put it in the water I can see it clearly so I assume if an old guy with bad eyes can see it, the fish can as well.

Seaguar blue label, 15lb for me. Thinner and ties easier than Pline and seems to have less memory.  I also retie after every good battle or put on another pre-tied hook. I always figured that fishes teeth mar the line during the fight.

I use seaguar myself. I always lubricate when tyeing my knots. It seems, if floro gets hot it gets brittle.

Knots used for flouro line really should be different than what you use for mono.

I always have used palomar and trilene knots for mono, but when using floro I had problems with those knots and switched to the Berkley braid knot and found it to do better.

interesting, i've had good luck with flouro pline in the 10-15 lb range. maybe i got a good batch?

We use P-Line Flouro for leadersw and have had zero issues with it. My buddy guides steelhead and salmon in the rivers and we fish the Salt together and neither of us have had and problems with breakage. I think its making sure your line and knot are lubricated before sinching it down is key with any Flourocarbon line. We used 12lb P-Line Flouro leaders for side drifting kings this summer and landed a bunch of fish.

I've broken off flouro leaders regardless of the brand.  Making sure the knot is well lubed with spit is key when tying flouro.  I either use a simple cinch (not improved-cinch), or a palomar.

I've been using the P-line SS flouro (10lb, 12lb and 15lb) lately and have had good results.

Yep, wet the knots every time before pulling tight. Don't know if I got some old stuff, or a bad run, but mine went in the garbage.

I've had good luck with the p-line SS flouro leader material. As others have said wet the knot before tightening it. I also check it regularly for frayed spots especially after a fish or snag.

My breakoff this week was right in the middle of a 40" leader, can't blame that on a knot, fish teeth or anything else I can think of.

My personal opinion is poor quality control or difficulty in manufacturing.  I'll have one spool that is fine, then one that breaks.  I figured bumping up to 40 would solve it but it didn't.  I've fished tons of 20 with no issues on kings and then a 40# breakoff on a coho.

I gave up on floro about 3 years ago after multiple busted leaders.  Back to Berkley Big Game; if doesn't break, it doesn't need fixing.  Salmon aren't leader shy anyway.

I have fished mostly p-line flouro clear for all my leader needs for a long time. Works great.
