I was in the Federal Way store once and a guy was just about through the paperwork process. He must have been just about done because they had already called in the background check. Anyways, they had the rifle he was buying leaning up against the rack and another employee walked by and kicked accidentally. I swear that gun hit five different things before hitting the floor. There was damage to the front sight, and a couple of divots and dings on the stock and action. The buyer asked them to get him another one, and they told him that was the only one they had in the system. And they couldn't change it anyways because the background check had xxx-xxx serial number and it was already a proceed. Guy said a whole bunch of colorful words and stormed out.

I wonder how they deal with that process? Guy is confirmed for a proceed on a certain specific rifle, and then walks away without purchasing? Anybody ever been involved in that?
Not once has the ATF asked me for a serial number during a NICS check, only for the type of firearm ie long gun! So IMO Cabelas was full of sh!t!!!

Here is a link to the ATF Form 4473 for a firearms transfer.  Note #3 on Page 1.

I know what a 4473 looks like! When a background is called in the ATF does not ask you for a serial number!! As for Cabelas using the background check as an excuse, it is not a valid one! A background check is simply a background check
Shut up and Hunt!

Just because it was a proceed doesn't mean the sale has to go through. I had a customer that got a proceed and before he came back to get it he pulled some shady stuff with the gunshop he ordered it from I refused to transfer it and sent it back to the seller. In my case the customer reversed the charges on his credit card after the firearm was here and he did the paperwork.

I was in Federal Way sportsmen’s years ago. Bought a rifle and asked them to pull the plugs. I had issues with my previous rifle and didn’t want to deal with it again. After about 2 hours, I asked what’s going on. They had stripped them out and tore up the bluing pretty good. I said I’m not taking that and get me another. Of course they pulled the this is the only one. They said they had one in Olympia. I said if they cover my trip I would go pick that up. They gave me a 100.00 gift card. I asked if they had the base and rings down there and they said yes. I left the ones I had. Got down there and had the rifle, not not base and rings. Guy runs to Cabelas to buy me some. Comes back in two hours and says they didn’t have any. They gave me another 100.00 gift card and sent me back to federal way. I got there and picked up a cot pad and went to get the base and rings. They sent me out the door after giving me what I had in the cart for free. Pain in the ass day, but they made it right. Won’t be using them again though.
