Thanks to the few that gave me some good info on the unit to get started.  Bulls were very vocal. Fun hunt.

Wow, that's a great bull. I'm glad that spot turned out so good for you.  When people ask about permits like the White River I think it's a good idea to help guys out with past sightings, access points, etc.  I was given lots of help when I had the permit, so I just paid it forward.  That permit could almost be treated like an OIL permit with the odds and it's draw only, so it's not like anyone is giving out their honey hole....my $0.02. Congrats again and I agree, we need more pictures and a story!

So it started Saturday hunting the high country. Seemed like all of us muzzleload guys were hunting the same spot. I did chase a nice bull Saturday morning but in the end he circled me and got my wind. Day two I try a spot down lower. Immediately I can hear two bulls goin off far away. So I picked the one the wind favored me. I start heading towards him and found a shed antler. As I’m clipping it on my pack a buckle makes a loud click and a few cows jump out of bed 100 yds from me and a bull bugles. We had a staring contest for a minute or so and I won evidently cause they bolted with no shot available. So I keep after the first bull. Probably took 30 mins to quietly close the distance. I would bugle and he would respond right away, seemed we were working towards each other. I get within about 75 yds and I can now see bits and pieces of him and he is looking for me. I can tell he is getting nervous not seeing another bull and felt like he was about to bail so I let a cow call go. He immediately goes on a sprint to me and stops at 20 yds broadside and rips a bugle off as I shot. Awesome hunt I will never forget. Dumb luck really. Pretty tough goin calling solo. But I was lucky to have some great friends drop what they were doing to help pack his ass out.
