I've walked a handful of miles in our woods. Surprisingly, the only mountain quail I've ever seen were in California while driving my truck. Upper Eel river.

I've run into them on the westside a couple times. In forested areas, not really where I'd expect to find them, but they were there.

Haven’t seen that many this year (but haven’t been looking). Used to hunt them walking into decommissioned roads near reprod.

Lived in Kitsap county my entire life have seen mountain quail on a few occasions. We had a small covey growing up that lived in back for a few years. They disappeared as the farm took over the woods. They came back after the big wind storm took out several hundred trees and they were there until we got the trees all cut up. I have raised captive mountain quail for over 20 years and only seen 2 wild ones called in in that time. We did catch a pair on the side of the road with my cell phone camera a couple years ago just outside of Sunnyslope. They are here but not many. Awesome birds!!

Have never seen Mountain Quail on this side but I’ve got close to 100 California Valley Quail and a handful of Bob White on my place.
