Was in the Palouse this past weekend hunting state land. Not a human seen all day. Huns were plentiful. Some chukar and lots of quail, which were left alone. Also smoked two geese that came in a flock out of somewhere, directly overhead about 20yds. Try packing those out of a drainage with other birds loading you down! My observations were that numbers seemed good. Seen plenty of pheasants on private grounds.
That's encouraging - they can be spotty sometimes. Back at it. ....and, knock on those private land owner doors, the way vast majority of the folks I've met in the Palouse are top notch and will generally let you hunt.
