Covid before deer camp

Got home from muzzleloader elk to sick wife and coughing kids  I start hammering vitamins and liquids  she assures me she’s fine Tuesday I’m cooking  go to season some meats and she goes I can’t smell that I automatically say wtf , she takes a test from work positive ( i still feel like a million dollars ) I take boys and into Kaiser for quick test , start the calls to let everyone know I can come . We have some elderly in camp . I talk to my brother on the phone that night and he is telling me to just hunt alone I tell him I probably will hang up within a half hour I feel like a bag crap , tests comes in wens for us all we have it I’m way off then them at this point kids are running hot laps around the house and momma is feeling better

Just want anyone who thinks about skipping a year or feels doubtful about going . GO  you never know how many camps are left my father missed last year Amd my brother and I hated it. And 2 of the guys in our camp are 79 and 80 hard to know when there last year will be .cherish every moment this season everyone

My opening day got screwed up also by the vid.  Super tired and feeling just plain crappy.  Good advice about now skipping a year, I almost skipped last year.  Don’t know if I can even go this year..

I had the vid also and the best advice I got was to be up and moving even when you feel like crap. For goodness sakes don’t just lay in bed! If you have to, keep rotating your body. Lay for a while on your back and then your side etc. Everyone I’ve known that just layed there had far worse complications. Good luck!

If you have COVID…..for god sakes stay home and don’t spread it.   It’s worth missing a hunt to keep others safe, especially the old guys at camp.   

Hope you feel better soon, stay home and rest.   You can always hunt the late season.

I had it in August and I get the feeling of not wanting to miss a season but if it were me, I would stay home and rest. Last thing you would want is to have a complication while out in the hills or even just not let your body recover fully so you end up with lasting symptoms. I know for me, after covid my allergies are much worse and I have sinus headaches more often then I ever have.

My buddy's dad came within an inch of losing his life to Covid. My brother ended up caring for him in the hospital. You don't want to spread it to the elderly. To each his own but be safe about it. Best of luck to you

O I wouldn’t go  unless I tested negative but the way Im feeling that’s the last thing I’m worrying about .

I tested postive 15 days ago and still not quite right. so i'm going to skip out on this weekend and try and go mid week. Yeah it totally sucks the crap holds on for a while

No can of worms at all….I could personally care less.  I have seen people vaccinated still get it.  I have seen more cases of unvaccinated get it, but that might be because symptoms are less.   Just curious is all.

Got the vid right before archery elk, wasn't able to hunt at all.  Took me and the wife down for about 10 days in total.  I am not vaxed and neither is the wife.  She got it from clients at her work that were vaxed.

8 of us at my cabin for muzzy deer, 4 with jab, 4 without.  All four without got the vid all four with jab tested negative and never got sick.

Couple times felt like crap for a two week period.
I know for fact I've been exposed through work.
Cause others would test positive and be gone for 10 days.
But I really don't want to say I've had it,when I have never been tested or vax.

Sorry to hear that apples. We lost a few friends and loved ones and the best guy on my pool team spent 3 months on a ventilator came out of it and went blind in one eye . I had it in January and have what is called covid fog. Acts kind if like early onset dementia. I get confused easily and current memory is horrible. Been 9 months seems to be getting a little better but may be permanent. Sharp as a tack prior overnight lost like 20 percent. Physically ok made it through many miles on the high hunt glad I stopped smoking in 2020.

  yes it is.   Condolences         My cousins(husband & wife) both felt symptoms for 2 days. Went to bed, he was dead by 9am. 49y/o and healthy. This was prior to the vaccine

I've seen both vaxed & non-vaxed get it at work. Those that had the shot had mild symptoms, those w/o varied but a few were hospitalized and still have lingering affects a year+ later

Very sorry to hear of your loss.  It is crazy how it impacts some way worse than others.  I have seen people in their young 50's very, very sick with this delta variant.  If you are old with co-morbids....it is likely a death sentence if you get it and are not vaccinated. 

Young people generally do well and recover within 2-3 weeks.....though no one knows what the long lasting effects of having had COVID really are.  I have a co-worker that had it and lost his smell, almost 12 months later and he still cannot smell.  Pretty crappy way to go through life....having lost your smell, well except for the one week a year you spend at deer camp with your stinky buddies.

If you don't trust the science or doctors to get the vaccine, why do you trust them to heal you after you get it? 

I think you are mixing things together that can be very different things.     and would not be surprised to see this get pushed into politics section after that judgement grenade 

I don't trust much of todays "science" based on how it is manipulated in recent times, I also don't use "science" when I get sick.
I trust my Doctor to try and help cure me when sick, but even doctors today are handcuffed by politics and science which concerns me.

I'd really like to see this thread stay put and not get moved to the political or off topics thread.  Reserve judgement for those threads and keep this one informational.  The only reason I ask about vaccinations and positive COVID tests is out of curiosity.  I know what that the stats say and I have my beliefs.....but that is not what this thread is about.

My take on it is the chance of bad side effects from the vaccination is out-weighed by the possible positives of getting the vaccination. It took me quite awhile to come to that conclusion based on family and friends vaccinated and not, ending up getting covid.  This is not politicized for me however I cast my vote for faucci being a lying bastige.

I understood your post after you stated you were "not going" to camp this year.  Sorry if it got derailed....was not the point of my asking about vaccinations status. 

I agree.....enjoy your hunts and family, you never know when it may be yours or a hunting partners last hunt.
