204 shrinking by the hour. Won't be much left of Bonepart after the Walker Creek fire. You will need to find some un-burnt national forest. we are on PRR but all is private. We hunt our own property. You have to be careful in some of the 204. That is where the grouse hunter was killed about 6 years ago. The father and son involved are doing 33 for 1st degree murder. Plenty of people hiding out in the area.

that was 2012 on Pontiac ridge. My buddy told me to stay away from that area when I was hunting up there that year. Glad I listened, some crazy people out there..

Any update on the fires from the weekend?  Are the temps helping slow it down?  Any of the rain last weekend hit up there?  My wife drew the late buck tag up there this year after about 20 years of applying....  Haven't had time to get up there at all this summer, just hoping for the best!

We did get a couple doses of rain with cooler weather to go along with it which severally knocked it back.  We can see the west side of Bonaparte from our house and as of right now there is only two small smoke columns.  A huge difference from two days ago.  Before it rained there were 5 Fire Boss planes dumping water on it.

Our nephew, who is logging out fire breaks, said they had the fire boxed in as of yesterday.  Optimistically speaking.... I think the worst is behind.

There is still plenty of unburned acres along the west reaches along with all of Phebe and Burge mountains to round up one of those wily whitetails.

Good hunting to all,
Dale

The fire seems to be moving away from the resort. Out near Wauconda the fire is still burning cabins, cars and out buildings. Our cabin was saved luckily but the other 4 cabins near us were a total loss. The area looks so bad from the pictures.

The area has changed a little since we bought in '08. Still a few slugs hiding out. The family that had the hunter killed still has their camp at PRR and Prior Loop rd. Nice people. The two who killed the hunter were squatters at PRR and Cow Camp rd. The south end of PRR has a sign that states that all road frontage is private but we still get road hunters whom seem to be proud of how they hunt. Chased a couple of Beaver Lake campers out several years ago. Plenty of Chesaw road access to National forest but steep entry.

There was a time when I would have dumped a load of points in there to get the special permit. There was some really nice WT taken there. But it really has fallen off.

One more week to go. Could someone remind me what a doe looks like so I can point them out properly? :lol4:

Good luck out there. Be safe everybody.

I think they are the ones without antlers or a dingle dangle. Hopefully we can spot that from a distance ;).
