Kitsap area
« on: October 23, 2021, 08:17:14 PM »
Might be a long shot,
I am trying to find areas to deer hunt around the kitsap area. I went last year for one day and about saw a kid kill himself with a misfire. He walked in with his dad and sat up across a clear cut from me. Dad left him and he must have been bored and was playing with his gun. He pulled the trigger pointing at a spot right by his feet. Needless to say it scared the crap out him. Anyway, I had walked into a lumber place about four miles back thinking maybe that would get the road guys away. I was wrong. I just want to get a buck and really don’t care of the size

Go out to Tajuya State forest hunt anywhere/everywhere but near the ORV area .  Check out the Dewatto area and DNR around Gold Mt. SW of Bremerton.   Go get 'em.

Ya look for state land..all the old Pope land , now Rayonier is permit only ..pay to play mostly.

I passed on a spike tonight on state land...they are there . just put in some time..after big rains or winds is a good time to be in the woods.

Watch out out there. Thieves hit the vehicles out by Green Mountain on thursday or friday. The gate off Gold Creek. Smash and grab.

Yeah no matter where you park these days. However, I hike a lot of those trails with the wife and dog and have never had a problem.

If really worried about it, remove all valuables from vehicle and leave it unlocked.  An old beater 4WD would be a perfect way to outsmart the tweekers busting into cars.

Green mountain has a lot to offer. Just gotta avoid the heavily pressured areas. I haven’t seen a hunter in the area I hunt since opening day. Yesterday I saw a coyote and a bobcat walking and the road, while also getting a shot opportunity on a couple deer bedded down within 5 feet of the road.

Since I am a little late to the game this year, I am thinking of picking up an archery tag to hit late season. Would rather bowhunt anyway. Plus, hopefully that will keep most of the pressure down a bit
