Hit by Tweakers
« on: October 26, 2021, 09:39:55 PM »
There’s a gated road close to where I live outside of Rainier where I park and walk in (WEYCO walk in pass) for deer. Headed in around 1600, out right after dark.  Rear DR side window smashed in on my 15 Silverado. Nothing good enough to take inside (well, an old pair of B&L binos and a 30+ year old set of Army Goretex). Idiots F,ed up my Toneau cover to get my tool box (wasn’t locked so it wasn’t necessary). I’m in a state of P’ed off like you don’t know. It’s a good thing I didn’t catch them………

Sad but that is one of the reasons why I pay for motorized access if it is allowed where you hunt.  One smashed window would pay for your drive in access fee.   Happened to me one year in the Toutle.

Crunch, I actually have the motorized pass. I just like (or used to) the ability to walk in after work close to my ranch.  So beside myself. I don’t hate much but truly hate thief’s and liars.

Sorry to hear that.  Sadly it is not safe around here anymore.  What is this world coming to?  I hope you are rewarded with a good hunt harvest this year.

Sorry to hear man..

It's been extra bad this season... I've heard of dozens of similar stories... almost makes a guy afraid to park at a gate.. lawlessness is the norm and will only get worse..and it's not just tweakers... I've heard anti's are trashing rigs to, well, just because they can...

Sorry to hear that. 😡. I live right down the road from there. The tweekers are getting bad in this area. I’ve left gas cans full of old fuel mixed with oil, sand, diesel, paint thinner etc. in the back of my truck only to have them stolen. 🤣. The gates on Johnson and Thompson Creek are really bad for getting your rig broken into. Hopefully they will get caught.

Sounds like several folks need to get together and catch these dirt bags in the act with pictures and placed on the faces in the mud until LEO's can get there.

Sucks about your truck man! I live in rainier and there seem to be more tweakers than before I see on the local apps for Yelm rainier and surrounding areas that people have been getting hit a lot more. Stealing decorations on front patios and cars in driveways in broad daylight.

There is no money in prosecuting tweakers, the counties dont even want them brought before justice.  If you have no money for them to take you are essentially legally immune.

I tried this once LEO told me I could be charged for holding someone against their will. I believe it was kidnapping or something of the sort. It was 15-20 years ago. Maybe things have changed but I doubt it.

Dont we still have the right to make a citizens arrest? I’m not sure how that works but always thought that was an option?

WA RCW 9A.40.40 unlawful imprisonment is knowingly restraining another person and a class C felony.  Class A kidnapping is using a threat or deadly force in restraining a person--class A felony.  I would assume that would mean you had a weapon walking out of the deer woods even though you weren't using/pointing it at the thief.  Not sure how to make a "citizens arrest" but i wouldn't try doing it while "hunting"...IMHO aint worth it

I have truly come to appreciate my older hunting partner, that can’t bust the brush anymore.
We hunt spots where he can stay with the rig, glass good country and stay in radio contact and with cell service while I scour the hills trying to put one in front of him or get it done myself and call him for whatever help I may need.
We had our trailer broke into ten years ago on taneum creek, and haven’t left camp or a rig
unguarded since.

My friend got ripped off today. A guy had cut his finger badly enough that he stopped and helped the guy with his deer I guess and when he got back to his truck the catalytic converter was gone. Didn’t even get to hunt at all either.

Returned to a dnr gate to find someone ripped off everything they could from my brothers truck dpf filter catalytic converter etc etc. They messed with my rig but didn't cut anything out. Rest of the season we parked over logs and brush to make it extremely difficult for them.

That's what that unregistered yard sale Saturday night special is for. The perp pulled it out of his pocket and was threatening you.
