The last few days in 454/460 been slow?
« on: October 31, 2021, 03:16:22 PM »
Hello all, I just wanted to reach out to guys who hunt in 454/460 to get their opinion on the Blacktail movement the last week of modern firearm. I have been out the last few days and it's been very quiet. I have heard a couple of shots in days of hunting. I usually see deer out when driving to go hunting and have seen zero. I have been successful the last 2 years and this year seems strange. I don't expect get a deer every year by any means but it seems like they are just not moving? Interested to hear what you guys think?!

There were no shots this morning at all. It's prime Buck cruising!

I hunted 627 the last couple of days and experienced the same. Heard very few shots and only saw a couple of does with no bucks pestering them.  Hopefully the late season will be better!

I shot a nice buck in 460 on Friday the 22nd, right after the bomb cyclone rains, but before the crazy wind damage.  I think the wildlife knew that craziness was coming, and there was a lot of movement that day.  The buck I shot was out looking for love.  But I was also out in 460 this past Thursday looking to fill my bear tag, and didn't see anything moving.  But I did see an awful lot of bobcat and coyote scat everywhere.  And then in one spot I saw some brand new cougar scat.  Set up and tried a few sets of predator calls to get eyes on that dude, but no luck.  Anyway, if there's a big cat in that area, the deer are likely super on edge, even more so than normal.

Definitely not in urban areas..was sent about 10 pics of bucks in neighborhood's and seen rubs in peoples front yards... Its all hit or miss it seems depending on numerous factors

Opening weekend I passed on 4 bucks one was a stud fork horn and a couple nice 3 points but then it really slowed down. I didn’t get out much at the end of the season due to some other things but it was not the norm where I hunt but I got multi season tag so not really worried

I spent 7 days hunting 460, saw some does and one buck, but never had a shot and believe I spooked him the next day when the wind swirled.  Wish it had snowed, with my lack of skills it really seems to help.
