Bears hibernating yet in the wet side foothills?
« on: November 01, 2021, 04:42:06 PM »
Thinking about getting out another time or two to try and call in a bear.  Especially since I saw some really fresh cougar scat where I was at the other day, and a relatively new pile of bear scat.  Question for folks, though, is whether the bears are likely denned up by now in the foothills.  Elevation between say 1200 and 2200 feet max, and the weather has been mostly above the low 40's at night.  Specifically the I-90 corridor on the wet side. Just hoping to fill another tag...

Thanks.  I figured they'd still be out, and with the berries all finishing up it seemed like some prime calling opportunities.  Only problem will be if the rain comes, because then the calling is less effective, or so says most of the experts, of which I do not count myself.

I had a nice bear on camera at 4500ft, ft of snow on Dec. 6th one year.  Wouldnt hesitate to be out if I was looking to fill a tag.  Not ideal time but theyre out there still.
