That is cool! I'm guessing 54. Is that too early you think? Check out the plate. Either 64 or 54?

I tried the pole thing once with a buddy's bear, that was a train wreck, big ol bag of swingin jello, lots of cursing and tumbling.  :chuckle:

Im having a hard time identifing the gun, does it look like a springfield '06?  If so, I still have it.
My Dad passed on Nov. 5th (It was a blessing) but still hard. I plan on shooting a deer next year with his rifle.

Well if the plate is '64, I may have been "seeded"  :o with the ensuing celebration of the hunt.   :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

No wonder I love to hunt so much.  ;)

Got my Loupe out, I think it's 54. But I'm blind in one eye and can't see out of the other.

Cool old picture!!

It is a 54 plate as the 63 and up had white backgrounds and green letters/numbers and had switched away from the metal year tabs.

Those are the exact plates I was thinking of. Glad we narrowed it down! I know a few guys who collect them and I've found them in old barns a few times. Good color in that photo also.
