Ammo?
« on: November 03, 2021, 08:43:20 PM »
No, this is not your choice of ammo questions.  A hunting license buyer since 1986 but so far not this year because I can't find any ammo.  Tired of empty selves and reading out of stock online. Won't make the mistake last year getting legal before ammo because rock throwing is not fun so how do you get ammo these days?  I'm out of options.  Please, no reload answers.  :sry:

Put it out there with your need and count on the community helping out. I needed some projectiles for my pops.....you can't get them anywhere....i put it out there and in less than an hour a local member hooked me up.

What are you looking for? Location? You said no reloading but heck, if you were in my area and needed a caliber I load I'd offer to make a box of 20 rounds that are mid powder load, safe, go boom, see how it goes you know.

I'm not sure I understand this as an excuse to not hunt.  There is and has been ammo available, though in limited quantity, available and tons of members helping other members out.  I guess I would say that anyone that couldn't find ammo didn't look / try hard enough.  A guy may have had to drive further than he likes to buy ammo, but it was out there.

To answer your question....when you do find it, buy it and make sure you have a par stock so this doesn't happen again.  If it does happen again, ask for help before the season.  I can tell you that people on this site have been helping other site members all year long.

What ammo are you looking for?

Waterfowl loads, impossible to find and can’t hunt with out them, just facts not excuses. Sorry for the confusion

12 ga I assume.  Where are you located.  I’m sure someone will have some or see some on a shelf somewhere.

I don’t waterfowl hunt too often anymore, but majority of the time saw a few boxes of waterfowl loads on the shelves of the places I stopped in over the summer throughout the west. Keep at it, you’ll stumble upon ammo. If it helps, mid morning on weekdays is when I always saw ammo.

Not trying to shop here, just seeing if I left a stone unturned in my ammo hunt. Very frustrating because the season is getting….

Like has been said, put your need on here. Try to be some specific, if you are hunting geese, #6 steel may not get it done.

I have 4 plus cases and probably won't use them all. They are hevi-steel 3" 2 shot. If you're interested in a case or less hit me up.i bought extra thinking this year I'd get out more than last year. But things ain't going well, so....I'm in Shelton..

Its been a week but when I was in Armageddon arms in Monroe they had all the shelves full to the brim or ammo, they were out of powders and had minimal primers but a huge selection of reloading gear and ammo call in advance but it was the first time I have seen shelves like that since covid started.

I just bought some from Rogers and Walmart had it last time I was there looking for rifle ammo.  You have to check as often as possible and I have been able to find everything I needed without paying gouging prices.

I understand your frustration, I've been feeling the same way. I've asked for advice on this board as well as one of the FB pages for Washington waterfowl hunting, and because of the help I've received I've been able to scrounge enough non-tox shells, both steel and Bismuth, to get me out hunting. Keep at it....

I have been finding or seeing waterfowl ammo each week.  It just takes persistance if you want to get it.  Many of the bigger stores are getting it, but it sells out quick.  Find out which days the stores get inventory and make a stop on those days.  If it supposed to be on the shelf by opening time, that's what you need to do.  I purchased 12 cases this year as I saw it coming.
Every morning check out Rogers sporting goods and Macks PW.  They both have been getting shells weekly.  If your picky and will only shoot a specific kind, good luck.  Cabelas, Sportsman, Wal Mart and others have been getting shells regularly.  Went into North 40 a few weeks back and they had shells.  Stopped in at Ace in Winthrop and they had shells.
Went into All American Armory yesterday and they had about 8 cases of 3-1/2" Kent shells.  Skagit arms had a bunch of Fiocchi show up last week, but I think it was gone by Saturday.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
