Grandpas old rifle lives again!

I inherited my Grandpas pre’64 model 70 years ago and had only shot it once.we’ll fast forward 6 years and I bought my wife a new scope for her .308. I stole the old Diamondback 4-12x44 from her and bought leupold Dual dovetail mounts and rings for her and headed to the range she was zeroed in 5 rounds and ringing steel out to 500 yards in short order. Someday I’d like to put a nicer scope on her and definitely want to put a recoil pad on it. Probably a pachmyer slip on type. I used my magneto speed chrono to find out that the HSM loaded 168gr Berger vld’s were going 2641fps on average. Saved six rounds of it to get some measurements of the CBTO A really nice group besides one flyer so I want to start replicating this load then fine tuning it. I have hodgdon Benchmark and a little bit of Varget left hoping I can find something that shoots about 1MOA

This featherweight .308 with the hard butt plate kicks a lot harder than my pansy a$$ cares for,
40 rounds left a bit of a bruise, I’m getting soft

Still have my first rifle, the twin brother to yours in 300wm. Love it but damn it hurts to put a box through it. Shoulders aren't what they were when I got it at 12 years old
