I’m not surprised by this, at all. Venezuela Jay is stacking the commission with anti fishing/hunting zealots. I think the time is coming when people that only fish & don’t care about the reduction in opportunities, are going to start caring when these zealots get after them.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is Washington has one of the highest concentrations of black bears outside of Alaska & a couple provinces. Clearly they love science until it disagrees with heir political agenda. I feel bad for you guys.

We are in top 5 3 way tie for third with OR and ID for the most number of Black Bears. 25-30k
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Oregon has a spring controlled hunt with liberal quantities of tags given out.  No baiting or hounds allowed.

Idaho has OTC spring bear tags with baiting allowed, not sure about spring bear and hounds?

Both states and Washington have robust bear numbers, the OTC and baiting hasn't threatened Idaho's bear numbers, they offer reduced tags to entice hunters to buy much chesper tags (especially non-res)

Idahos OTC spring bear has had a very positive effect on ungulate calves and fawn survival rates.
