Elk Harvest in 340, 342, 346
« on: November 08, 2021, 11:14:17 AM »
Brutal hunting this year for my hunting group. Had shots on two different spikes and missed them both. Any successful harvests out there in these GMUs?

Me and my brother hunted 342 for the first time cause are usual area burned. Brother missed one Teusday afternoon, couple guys down the draw got him. Nice 1x2. Seen a few big bulls, no cows and no shooting. Hopefully Bethel will be huntable next year.

When you guys are missing animals, is this archery, muzzy or modern?  Appears to be a lot of missing going on this year.....across the board, not just this thread.  Wondering how many misses per weapon type.

Usually hunt two of the listed GMU's but didn't get out this year due to other hunts.  Heard it was a tough hunt from buddies.  At least you all saw shootable animals....which at least adds some excitement to your hunt.

This was during Modern for us, and makes it brutal, because you hardly get a second chance on a spike if you miss or don't get a shot. Oh well, still fun and now we get to make fun of the guy in our group because he was the rookie in camp. :)

Good hunting buddies never let another hunting buddy forget about a "miss"   :chuckle:

Awesome, thanks for the replys! I helped a guy get his spike onto an elk cart with his buddies to carry off the mountain, that was as close as I got to seeing a bull.

Living vicariously through others after eating elk tag soup this year.

My oldest daughter and I have late season cow tags so,I was pretty happy to see that many elk around already.

We hunted 342 muzzy.

No elk seen
No fresh tracks.
Hiked across county every day.
Four of us.
Worst I ever seen.
