The gate blocks people from accessing Dnr land?
Isn’t this how we get into the problem of land locked public land?
Seriously just askin
I agree with not blocking gates part to this thread
It does not.  The access to the DNR land is from another point.  It just so happens that the DNR land ends at my property.  When I called DNR and asked them do something about the people blocking my gate I was told the gate is on private property and the road that leads to that gate is private as well. They sent me a map of the green dot roads and the "take off" points for accessing the DNR land.  Where people are "taking off" from is in the middle of my property on a private road.  The private road was put in by the timber company.  I bought the timber company land.  There is no public access to that road.

You can get to this DNR land through at least 5 different legal easement "take off" points and hike across the DNR and get to where my property touches it.

I am not blocking anyones access to the DNR.  Those that are using the DNR are in fact trespassing my property and then blocking my access to my own property.
Thank you for that reply and explaining the situation at your place
I really was just asking and appreciate the reply

How about this scene, walking in a gated WEYCO road for an afternoon hunt. Lock had been cut (I wrapped the chain around the post and gate, and, reported it WEYCO later that evening).  I was a bit more than surprised to round the first corner and see this.   :o

??? Boss, you're missing something.
Ya, it loaded slow  8)
Now that is blocking some access.

Looks like what one particular well known outfitter would pull to keep everyone out of the mountain their client was hunting.

Well at least there is still a gate there to block :chuckle:
I'll try to make this short story.

There was an area this year, with a locked gate.
Put a trail cam a few miles in ,in the spring.
Checked trail cam about every month or so.
Cam had a bunch of small muley bucks, nothing legal to shoot.
Hunted around that area in early season, but not behind the gate cause someone was always there anyway. Heard a few gun shots from time to time. Just figured someone found something legal to shoot or grouse or whatever.

I moved on and kinda just left the cam till the other day.
Walked in from a mile from the gate, snow roads, and thinking
Thinking animals would be less likely to hear us pull up,slam doors and all that.
Get to the gate, busted open, from the rust on the metal that they cut ,look like it been that way for awhile . Well I need my cam I guess will see if it's even there.
Walked the few miles back, not one deer track in the snow, like all deer had been erased. Cam was still there,it was a ways off the road . Had deer pics right up to Oct 16.
This cam would average 2500-3000 pics in one month soak all summer. It only had 200 pics mostly moose and it was working ,no pics erased.

Another thing that I'm seeing Alot of is camping right at the gate ,which is fine when there is a big pull in.But sucks if only enough room for one vehicle.

Try owning some property that BPA has an easement through. Every year I had to deal with some idiot who had to tell me the govt owns the land under the lines. I have a fortune invested in locks and gates.

There's all sorts of instant experts on property rights and access now that the internet is there to teach them...

I own some of that as well. I’m going to have to put a gate on that one because people keep driving on it when it is muddy and rutting up the road. The worst part is the “road” is not even where the BPA easement actually is so even if there was a public easement to the BPA road, which there is not, people would still be trespassing because my road is not where the BPA easement is.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

If there's a gate and I decide to hunt behind that gate I park beside it, simple as that.

True that!!!!!
I try to leave enough room for one rig to at least get by,and enough room for them to open/close gate. Most swing in anyway.

As long as its enough for 1 rig and that rig is a lowboy with a piece of equipment. If it looks too close for that I find a place nearby to park.

good job! i have ran into this issue moving equipment numerous times, sometimes we have had to gingerly move a rig if in fact that person made a honest effort to be out of the way. If not then they get drug like a goverment mule.
go ahead on er.

To make it more enforceable, don't forget to quote the proper RCW for criminal trespass; RCW 9A.52.090
